Nikko Jenkins is an American convicted spree killer known for committing multiple murders in Omaha, Nebraska, in August 2013, shortly after being released from prison. He was born on September 16, 1986, and has a history of criminal activity dating back to his youth, with prior convictions including robbery and assault.
Jenkins' crimes drew national attention due to their brutal nature and the fact that they occurred within a short time frame. He was involved in the killing of four individuals over a period of ten days. Throughout the legal proceedings, Jenkins exhibited erratic behavior and claimed to be influenced by the ancient Egyptian deity Apophis. This led to discussions regarding his mental health and competency to stand trial.
In 2017, Jenkins was convicted of all four murders and was sentenced to death. His case highlighted issues related to mental health evaluations in the criminal justice system and raised questions about how individuals with severe mental health issues are managed within the prison system. Jenkins' death sentence was one of the first to be carried out after Nebraska voters reinstated the death penalty in 2016. However, as of now, he remains on death row as the appeals process continues.
